Exploring British Wildlife:

A Photographer’s Journey

My name is Quentin Moss and I am lucky enough to live in Kent, the Garden of England. I am surrounded by beautiful open spaces to walk and capture pictures of our diverse UK Wildlife, thank you for being here.

My Wildlife Photography journey started on a lunch walk shortly after COVID and shops had started to reopen. In my local second-hand shop I spied a Canon DSLR and Kit lens and thought it would be nice to photograph birds in my garden; little did I know how much and how quickly that would snowball into becoming an absolute passion of mine.

I slowly upgraded my kit as funds allowed and started to realise how refreshing for the soul it is to be immersed in nature. I absolutely adore the wildlife species we have right on our doorstep, no matter where you live in the UK there are some truly remarkable animals and birds to behold.

I pride myself in my photography skills being organically developed; all self taught.

I urge each and every one of you to find time in your day to Stop, go outside, no matter how brief and listen, breathe and enjoy our Great Outdoors.

I love nothing more than wandering the Kent countryside with my camera, capturing beautiful, natural moments of our wonderful wild world.

From dawn-lit reedbeds to hedgerow tracks, I seek the quiet, unscripted scenes that reveal the habits and personalities of local birds, mammals, insects and plants.

My approach is patient and respectful: I observe from a distance, work with natural light and habitats, and aim to show wildlife as it truly is — not posed or overly processed.

Whether it’s a fox slipping through long grass, a marsh harrier quartering the marsh, or a rare wildflower tucked into a chalk bank, my images celebrate the subtle drama and fragile beauty of Kent’s ecosystems.

I love sharing stories behind the images: the early starts, the serendipitous encounters, and the small details that connect species to place.

If you’d like prints, commissions or to follow my latest walks and discoveries around the garden of England, I’d be delighted to hear from you.

Why We Love What We Do

I have such a passion for the serenity of the outdoors and for spending time with our fragile natural world that I want to share it with you all.

Through my lens I aim to capture those quiet moments — a heron poised at dawn, the shimmer of dew on a spider’s web, the tentative steps of a hedgehog at dusk. Each image is an invitation to slow down, to notice the small, extraordinary details that make British wildlife so special.

Why I share:

  • To celebrate the beauty of native species and habitats.

  • To encourage gentle, responsible exploration of wild places.

  • To inspire care and conservation through connection and appreciation.

What you’ll find here:

  • Intimate wildlife portraits and landscape moments.

  • Practical tips for respectful wildlife photography and fieldcraft.

  • Stories behind the photos: the conditions, timing and patience that made them possible.

  • Seasonal highlights to help you know when and where to look for different species.

A few simple requests:

  • Observe from a distance; let animals behave naturally.

  • Leave no trace — take only photos, leave only footprints.

  • Support local conservation efforts whenever you can.

I hope these images and notes bring you a little serenity and spark a desire to protect our fragile natural world. Join me in celebrating Britain’s wild places — one quiet moment at a time.
